Welcome to Laurentless Art Dolls and Sculptures.

My name is Janice Laurent and this site is all about introducing you to my world of 

Art Dolls. Art Dolls are not dolls you play with they are Dolls to admire and they do not always look like the conventional doll, in fact they can look like anything at all.

I had been making dolls fabric for about 20 years then became interested in Art dolls after admiring some in an American magazine. These hand sculptured dolls intrigued me and after doing a bit of experimenting I became hooked. It didn't take me long to realise there was more to this than just making dolls. It is an art form and a very enjoyable one.

With the use of the internet I set about doing "on line " classes and attending many local and interstate workshops and retreats. Creating a personality from some wire, fabric and cotton filling gave me such a buzz it soon became an obsession.

I have met ladies from all over the world who teach and love Art Dolls as well, many have become firm friends. I have been taught by celebrated Doll Artists such as Lex Sorrentino of Canberra, Suzie McMahon of Tasmania, Marilyn Halcomb of Sydney, Jill Maas of New Zealand also Gloria Weiner and Sherry Goshan of the USA. I have learned something from everyone of these ladies. They are my inspiration.

Now I have gone one step further and incorporated other mediums into my Art. With the inclusion of various Clays and a fabulous hardener called Paverpol I have expanded my knowledge and horizons.

After completing a Contemporary Clay Instructor Program I now have the certification to pass my knowledge of these clays onto others. I am also a certified Paverpol instructor an a Gold Seal Member of NODAAA.
